Hi everybody,
I have made an (Chris cereal boxes) electrolizer and I have connected all five cells in a series. I placed it all in a container with NaOH and distilled water. I connected it to a car battery, and turned on the car. The production of the gas was enormous. It bubbled like boiling water. When I measured the current, it was 43 amp. and the voltage dropped to 12.8 Volts. Tommorow I will try to seperate the cells and put each one in a seperate container with own electrolite and connect it in a series to see if there is going to be the same production of gas and current or different. What do you think about this?

this means that if I put seven cells in to sperate containers the voltage won't drop as much I'm most interested to know what amperage(current)would I use from a battery in this situation and approx. how much gas will be produced

Hi guys,

I have made 5 cells that are exactly the same as the ones Chris made
Every cell I have put into a different container and all 5 are hooked up in a series.Today the current was 24.8 amps and 13.3 V.The car was running idle speed.I think pruduction of gas was identical to what it was yesterday when all the cells were in the same container. I don't know how Chris for 5 cells needs only 7 A and for four cells 15 A.

I have two questions for you,
1. If I add two more cells and connect them in series, my current will drop with the same production of gas.
If Chris is using a more diluted electrolite, does that mean that he is producing less gas since he is using a smaller current (7 amps.)?

2. My friend has a one cell electrolizer in the tube. He uses 15 amps. from his truck and 13 Volts which later he converts to 50 amps. and 2 Volts.
With this he produces 1.2 L of gas per minute. If we multiplied 15 amps. by 13 Volts it equals 195 Wats.
If I calculate my electricity consumtion with my 5 cells (24x13=312 Wats), does that mean that my production of gas with those 5 cells is much better than his?

Hello Bob,

With your help I am learning very fast (I think so).
The way I understood it, if I add 2 more cells to my 5 (7 in total), I could produce 1L of gas per minute using 150 Wats from a battery.
How many grams of NaOH is enough per litre of distilled water to achieve this?
If it's not a secret could you describe me your system which with 150 Wats can produce 1.2L of gas per minute?
