Thrival -Vapor Carb

This forum is for discussing anything related to electrolysis and electrolyzer designs.

Interesting work Thrival. Im a little concerned about the fact that you are bubbling through the gas. It would seem to me this would have a varrying effect through the air velocity range. Bubbles reach equilibrium at a rate of speed porportional to the surface area and the duration of time they spend in contact with the liquid. You are trying to use this bubbler to reach an equilibrium with gas vapor/air. The trick is when the velocity of air increases and the bubbler's capacity is maxed then you will either go lean (if you have a liquid disengaging section) or you will have other possibilities outside your design mechanics.

The bubbler design is good so long as the bubble size is nominal and the under liquid duration is adaquate. Factors that can change this outside the design are foaming, larger then adaquate bubbles, shorter then adaquate duration at a given temperature and entrainment of liquid with the vapor, not to mention the corrigated hose storing condensed or entrained liquid.

My thoughts on correcting some of this are clouded by my worry that gas will foam when bubbled. I have built many bubbler devices in my line of work and I have found that there is alot more stuff that foams then not. I suspect that this would be the case. That leads me to want to stay with the wicking idea.

For this to really save gas I would think a max lean mixture would be the goal. For this to work without prefire or backfire or extreme cylinder head issues you might want to check out a water injection to go with it. You can either wrap a copper tube around the exaust manifold and use the steam or inject it into the air stream under pressure with a fine nozzel. I think this will stabilize a lean mixture. There are products on the market that do this.

Great work for trying it out though, I'm currently all talk and no action. I just bought a new (used) van I'm sure I can't afford the fuel for, so I'm gonna get busy and start experimenting. Keep it up man.

had this idea for a while now which might result in better induction. - i would try it on my 40yr old vw, but its with two dual carb setup there's no room, maybe will try on my friends kids gokart

get a 12" diameter v8 style air clearer and mount 3 or more spirally wound vanes, maybe made from copoper, and sandwiched / soldered between 2 copper disks with holes in the middle of them the same size as in tne inlet diameter, the vanes will spin the air into a tornado type flow. there are similar fuel savers that you can buy and stick in the top of the venturi of a carburettor, but spirally wound vanes in a large diameter air cleaner might work better ... passive super charger / very schauberger, inwardly spiralling / centrapetal air flow will be cooler at the centre, spiral / vortex fluid motion is faster than linear ... experiment get a softdrink/soda bottle fill with water then empty it, then fill again, spin it then empty it .. it should empty faster; or look at the water vortex as you empty your sink

You might want to try running a small tube directly from your vapor chamber through a cutting torch flash back arrestor and into a small vacuum line into the intake manifold. Put the flash arrestor close to the intake manifold because it is spring action and needs a solid vacuum to keep it open. This might be used just to suppliment your regular carb system. You should be able to lean out the carb some with just using the small line.

The theory against this working is that small droplets of gas get more gasoline into the cylinder than pure gas vapor and gives more power than just using pure gasoline fumes. The set up I used mentioned in another thread kept the injectors active and added gasoline fumes to the intake air. Gas milage increased 20 % and the check engine light came on but the set up I used was too dangerous to continue using.
When the price of gasoline went over $2.00 per gallon I started looking at alternatives again.

Hi kevin.

Let's just say a post-industrial midwestern town,
in case the knee-bashers are listening.

So Kevin,

give me the low-down on the millenium borate stuff
and why Bob says it's expensive to make. I believe
there's a way around (almost) everything. What are
the advantages?

he said it takes oil to make the stuff or some kinda petrollieum.it looks like the advantage of useing thier way would be production control,99% pure hydrogen.draw back is we dont konw how to make the soltion and propeirty(ms) catalyst

BTW Really cool work on the vapor carb i wanna duplicate it asap!!!! looks like you can incorporate it with a booster tooo NICE!!!I could sell gas savers down here .I do construction work and every body drives an hour and some drive two hours -one way--- every day something to save on gas is what everybody needs, just not alot take the time time to expieriment and produce a workable system, not alot have the time. im thankfulll for what ever this forrum produces.... :D i get a little goofy when im this tired ..

Building a sell-able gas saver isn't that difficult. 1/8" 316 ss rod (welding rod) & 3/8" 316 ss pipe. put a fill hole at the bottom with a weed eater gas tank to feed it. + on the rod & - on the pipe. Put the rod in from the bottom so you can collect hydroxy from the top. Now you have 1/8" efficiency with tubular "compactness" (is that a word?). So much for the easy part, you guys can figure out the electronics. ;)

I like the vapor carb too, I paid the 3 bucks for Tom Ogle's vapor system if anyone wants it let me know.
