Yes the Mothballs did work, back in the day. Yes they did clog fuel lines and filters, that is why we mixed it with the gas then strained the gas to clean out the pieces, then added to your gas tank.

Why doesn't it work today? There are several reasons.

1. We used Leaded Fuel. You know the stuff that smelled good not like the stuff we use today.

2. No fuel injection

3. No smog controls or Computers.

4. We were dumb kids grabbing at ever horsepower we could. Damn the engine, we can get another one. LOL

Oh yea, our idea of smog control was if it didn't burn your eyes you were running to lean. LOL

You used a road draft tube just so you wouldn't suck oil into the carb and foul your plugs.

If you didn't have an oil spot on the drive way you weren't trying hard enough.

Tires were expendable. It was better to leave in Blue Cloud than to actually get traction.

Moth balls were the Poor mans Nitro, Boosted the octane way up but remember we already had 106 octane at the pumps and higher. We could shave heads and max the compression ratio way high and still no ping or knock. We could crank the distributors 40 to 60 degree's up at max throttle. What did we care beat the other guy or at least make more smoke than him. If you car was fast you got laid if it wasn't, it at least had to look good or you were lonely. LOLOL
