Electrolyte (Red devil) problems

Hi
As it been mentioned here many times, lye is that we use for electolyte.
I been using Red devil wich is not best i guess.
KOH is the best lye ?
Where can i get it?

Anyways .... here is the problems I have run in to with red devil.
First of all:
I've been trying to follow Loster and try Chemolyser.
Used Red devil + water + AL
Guess what happened?
Not niticeble amount of H2 .. and some strange white gas (Looks like smoke)
This gas is TOXIC .... i makes me choke and chothe .. and it tastes and smels very bad.

Me and Loster have been discasting about it, and we didn't figured out what gas it is ... and why diferent chemolyser effect.
He used liquid Drain cleaner (lye)
Mine is Powder

I Didnt' worry about it and just let go, untill yestarday.

Running My prototype low voltage electolyser:
Because it is low voltage and because i used old plates spased too big
I had to make electolyte extremy concentrated.
I don't have real data, but when i feel it with my hands it fells very slick and soopy and it eats hand's skin a litle bit so i had to wash my hands right away.

Well i turn my unit on .... runing about 10 -11 amps
I go some good gas production about same as 12volts .... bubles were very small and were difused very well .... so water became not clear ... and i could not see the plates very well....
And guess what? .... Same white smoke.... started to got up like it was on fire ..... i ran my unit for 30 min .... reaction was all stable .... smoke production too..... but i filled up my garage with gas ... i could't see it i could smell it .....

After i ran unit for 1-2 hours..... same thing .. i left the room so i would not mess up my health ...... the water was same cold .. it's good ....
And my garage was open .. but still smoke ... is not giving me a good night sleep then i thing about it.....

Any of you have any recomendations about diferent electolyte source?
I need to have it very very capable of caring BIG BIG amount of curent ....

ASPECTUS:

It is VERY discouraging to know that there are people out there running thier hands through a solution of RED DEVIL LYE and playing with it not knowing how dangerous it is.Dont understand why someone woul ddo that but obviouisly people do.I really dont know what to say, i would suggest you stop and prepare to expieriment in a more cautious and careful manner.

Well, you show experiment with that stuff OUTSIDE and DON'T PUT YOUR HAND INTO LYE !! ..

I believe you are not using the same stuff as I do, or too much concentration ! .. However, my mix doesn't produce that nasty stuff yours is making .. That's scary !! Try to not melt your lungs !!

Well,
I wasn't exposed to the gas.
I was testing in ventilated area... and i was away .

Is that a typo error or did you say Al for the plates.
The plates should be stainless steel not aluminum.
Lye is sodium hydroxide. Nothing that should produce
strange gasses, but aluminum would react.

No AL is used in the Chemolyser and it's not plates.... and no electrodes .... just chemichal reactian.......

Electrodes are SS ...
and no AL in electrolyser version
