I dont blame ya a bit for doing an open top chamber as drilling holes in s.s. isnt any fun.I never got around to finishing an open top design so I wish you success in that endevor.
i know a guy that used the 1/16" spacer material and he culd use water with a ph of tap water...well actually U think he used tap water but Im sure thats not any fun to deal with and I havent talked to him in a while...but seems like if tap water works then a ph of eaqual value shuld be able to draw some current.
That design you posted looks perty good...I dont think i wuld drill holes thru the plates tho.I'll give ya my 2 cents worth on that design or wat I wuld do if it were me...Instead of drilling holes in the plates I wuld cut a deeper slot in the bottom piece and drill a horizontal, small hole near the bottom ,leaving say a 1/4" space between the plate slot and the hole thru the slot'n material. Then I wuld drill a hole a verticle hole 1/2 the thickness of the plates down to the horizontal hole.If I ever get to do a serries cell again thats wat I wanna do for a water feed.If the losses were to great I wuld just make a bigger gap to the horizontal hole.A small filter culd be placed in the holes to maybe help keep losses down...if they make one that wuldnt hold the KOH and let it go thru too....I wuld still have a runoff/overflow tank and rout that back into the water feed as well.
Looks like someone went thru a great deal of work to get that box made....it does look good...nice job!!!!!
