Farmer grows sunflowers...crushes and filters own raw oil...mixes in some gasoline (1 gas to 3 sf oil?)...uses as a blend with diesel.
"We have found that running a 10% blend of my sf fuel in semi trucks,, 1
CAT,, and 1 Detroit we saw the CAT go from 5.1mpg to 7.2 mpg.. The
little 11.1L Detroit went from 6.2 to 8 mpg... The power gain was what sold
the truckers.. They both said they had another 75 to100 hp under the
peddle."
41% and 29% gains...diesel semis
"So with my testing, and a big thank you goes to my wife for letting me use her Sunday water glasses. ( nice clear glass)
Taking regular #2 diesel, an mix in a 10% mixture of bio diesel with the glycerin taken out,, it never mixes 100%.. As you stir it and hold it up to the sunlight, one can see a smear or fog in the glass.
If one takes a water glass with #2 diesel fuel in it and add raw veg oil to it,, it just floats around like a lava lamp glob of glue. If you try to mix it, even with a blender,, over just a few days it will regroup and be a glob of raw oil.
Now take either mixture from above and with an eye dropper add a few drops of unleaded gas,, it mixes, clears up and stays mixed. I pointed this fact out to my fuel supplier. A few days later when he fueled up his fuel delivery truck, he added a gallon of gas to his B30 blend in the tank.. He said his fuel mileage jumped almost 40%.. His power under the fuel peddle jumped also."
Some people are using cheap grocery canola oil with some gasoline in diesels...not as much mpg gain though.
