Ok....Maybe i'm asking how long a piece of string is !!!
I'll try and be a bit more specific...
Firstly the length of the coil is not a restriction...But for ease of a prototype i'll say its 24 inches long.....Tho it could be 20ft or 200ft theoretically.
Secondly the size of the magnet is not a restriction.
Thirdly the device i need to power up does not need to run continuously....A burst of about half a second or so should do every other cycle.
I've read that by letting a magnet drop through a copper tube its natural velocity is reduced....would the same happen with a 2ft coil. ?
And if it was slowed would it still produce a usable current. ?
This could kill my idea !!!
And finally would it be more efficient to split the 24" coil into smaller coils, and maybe to use a series of smaller magnets that pass thro the coil instead of one large one.?
Apologies if i come across a bit vague...Its because i'm none too clever and it would be so easy for me to overlook a glaringly obvious flaw in my
idea.
Any thoughts or remarks appreciated.
