That would decrease the resistance in the compression stroke.
But require more air for the power stroke.
This might be good on a diesel.

But you gave me another idea.
The balance of the exhaust air (that which is not compressed),
can run closed loop back into the intake, atmospheric.
We may have talked about this before.

sitting here tossing ideas around in my head.....what about using a two cycle reed valve motor and both sides of the piston? im trying to keep ideas in my head of using as little flow as possible to keep it spinning

maybe pipe the exhaust back into the intake partially or fully...and just add external pressure on the bottom of top of the piston....like a "top-off" type system to keep a pressure differential...

How about injecting the air in the cyl at right angle too make a votex in the cly. Have high expanding ratios. Use Sterling cycle engine too tap energy off or move energy that votex temperatures differential create?
