Ok, Jehu
From Alaskas project folder we simply have a 555 timer circuit that can switch a high current output. Nothing of any great value information wise, which does beg the question, can it really be that simple?,
I have made these ccts in the past to drive car ignition coils. The circuit is really simple, but if using a MOSFET, you have top protect it against inductive back emf.
I'll be using the very old but sturdy 2N3053 as my high power switch.
Alaska doesn't seem to think that the frequency is important, so you can either choose the components to give your preferred frequency, or use a couple of variable resistors to give you a range of frequencies.
I'll locate and post the simple cct that I have used in the past and found to be very reliable.
