1/8" thick plates will offer a lot of resistance, I hope they work out. Look on the bright side: They'll handle just about any amperage you can throw at them.

yeah you could v grove 'em or something like that and maybe get better effeicentcy, kinda like thrivals corragatted shim stock or have 'em cut so that the plate looks like stack of knives

How can being too thick make them more resistant? So I'd be running more amps with less gas???

The more metal that electricity goes through the more resistance it encounters. I don't know how it will effect gas output but the plates will be able to handle more amps.
