Some basic information;

1.NAME RADAX - FROM RADIAL & AXIAL
3O~H~O~fT LBS
2.8 Cylinders: 4 opposing cylinders on each end; Torque @ 2000 rpm, Wt.
250 lbs.
3.Engine operates on the ?Larsen Cycle? A cycle that eliminates objections to conventional

2 stroke engines and 4 stroke ... every stroke is a power stroke.

4.No intake throttle; free breather like a Diesel.

5.Power output controlled by amount of fuel injected for each power stroke - like a Diesel.

6.The central power output cam has 3 lobes giving 3 power strokes per cylinder per revolution. Each rotation of the output shaft is torqued by 24 piston strokes.

7.The geometric relation of the 4 mirror-imaged cylinder positions to the opposing four cylinders, provides for 2 diametrical-axial opposing cylinders to fire at the same time to provide inherent opposing balance of reciprocating components.

8.The 2 groups of opposing cylinders on opposite ends give inherent internal balance without counter weights.

9.Each pair of cylinders tire every 300 of shaft rotation.

10.2 pair (4) cylinders are on power stroke at any one time. -- minimum vibration - super smooth.

11.All 8 cylinders fire 3 times for each shaft revolution (24); 24 or 12 dual strokes - Compare this to a 4-stroke V8 with 4 power strokes per revolution - 1 every 900.

12.Engine uses Precision Spark Injection to inject and ignite fuel -- These ~Little El~tn~ Throwers? provide higher thermal efficiency by allowing un-throttled alr entry6 Surplus air insulates the combustion process. Engine operates under maximum compression pressutc~ at all times regardless of the rpm or load. —S P1 T Z F I R E~---— INJECTO F~S

13.This engine does not require a big heavy starter, alternator or battery. The Larsen Radax can start and run on a 12 volt lantern battery.

14.To start - Fuel is injected and ignited into cylinders that are on the power stroke. The engine can be made to rotate either Ru. or L.H. Depending on which way it is started.

15.Back to free breathing feature - there is a 2? dia poppet valve in base of each cylinder that is opened and closed by piston rod motion - no reed valves or suction operated valves of any kind. Higher volumetric efficiency results.

16.The cylinders are totally isolated from central power cam case - no oil in the combustion air. The heat producing combustion chambers are insulated from the main cylinder and head units, and totally isolated from the torque producing cam and crosshead assembly.

17.Pistons are free floating in cylinders - with positive Hi-Temp dry lubrication system - low friction - no side loads as with crankshaft engines.

18.No oil mixed with air - clean burning - water vapor exhaust. Compare to present day internal combustion engines which are noted as dirty engines because oil is mixed with air [or lubrication and cooling.

19.All ball anti-friction bearings. Spray mist lubricant in central cam case only.

20.High commonality of parts - all 8 cylinders, pistons, rods, valves, and heads are identical.

Regardless of their location on the engine.
21.This design creates a whole new world for engine development based on simplicity - Fann Boy logic, and engine?s design axiom for improving thermal efficiency.

22.This basic configuration can be expanded into a 12 cyl - 16 cyl or 20 cyl all four sizes would use identical cylinders, pistons and crossheads.

23.All four sizes would be the same length but would be progressively larger in diameter with a corresponding increase in torque and horse power and a decrease in rpm.

24.Cylinder liners, pistons and combustion chambers are Hi-Temp carbon fiber composite or ceramic.

25.Production type engines will be air cooled.

i remember seeing the video of that famous hydrogen guy, the older gentleman, with this very old man, demonstrating the radax..... really fascinating design.

Interesting.

Using this engine and the AlaskaStar hydrogen production technique.... you would have a 300HP Hydrogen Burning Beast.... especially, if you used one engine to power the front tires and one for the back. Thats 16 cylinders and 600 horses .... WOW... and water for exhaust.
