-Delta Cell- a easy DIY design by your local resident genius

well, i've tinkered with a bunch of different cell designs, tried neutral plates, tried sealing it into a series cell, and i think for simplicity's sake, i'm going to stick with a cell of my own design, aptly named "Delta Cell" because of its shape. this cell is by far, the best producing HHO cell i've ever messed with. im also very poor, so i've been extra careful and resourceful about where i am buying my parts from.

Image
this is the basic cell design, six "smacks" plates, drilled four ways, assembled about 1/8" spacing between the plates, nylon rod used throughout, one anode and one cathode, the three sets of plates joined by stainless steel flatstock pounded flat from a pair of tongs purchased at shoprite for $2.99 and cut into sections.

Image

in these pictures it looks like the cell wont fit into the container, and it wont, i made small revisions to the anode and cathode leads, as well as the binding straps so that it fits in the test container. i've never had a cell produce so much, unfortunately i'm running a lot of KOH in my distilled water so the amps are out of control, i'm limiting the cell to 18A based on the theory of 12A being highest effeciency (because of cell plate area) and 24A being shorter life but higher HHO output.
Image

i'm currently building a really nice housing out of a high grade SS beaker from a closed down EPA testing laboratory.

i took some video's with my new camcorder but its being a PIA because the files are coming over to the computer as MPEG-2's or something weird.

if anyone wants to know how to build it, i could supply a full parts list, part numbers, and pricing.

more to come, ampheres, improved housing, L/min output as well as temperature of cell.
where is the line between tinkerer and scientist, scientist and madman, madman and genius?

What voltage are you running?
A good power supply to run 24 A and 2.2 Volts would not be cheap.
I would imagine some more plates to act as Neutrals that bring the voltage down
across each cell would be cheaper.
I look forward to seeing your production figures.
Your design certainly makes good use of the available space in a round container.
Yours is probably making a lot more Hydroxy than mine at the moment.
I am trying to make some sort of step up power supply to help.
Glenn.

built my housing today- but plexiglass i came across was too thin, and prone to cracking, so i'm going to go with the heavyduty .375" thick stuff i came across on the web.
Image
this is a picture of a plexiglass sheet where i cut an appropriate size hole in the bottom in order to be a locking bottom half of the lid.
Image
this is a pic of the gasket, i got this from a koi pond supply house, its just rubber mat for manmade ponds, perfect thickness for the sewer-style gasket! i simply cut it to size with scissors.
Image
this is a picture of the lid, the bottom, the cell, and outlet tube installed. in the bottom, i have a 6" by 6" rubber gasket sitting on the bottom of the beaker- that way the plates wont ground out. i would have made the bottom and lid of the cell nicer but i was operating a jigsaw in an apartment complex at 1030-1130pm.....heh. yeah it doesnt go over so well.

picture from the side, to see the orientation of the lid and bottom and bolts.

tonight i'm conditioning the cells for 12 hours straight with a 12V 3A power supply that will push to 5A before popping the breaker, im just going to turn it on and leave it on all night in the living room, and come out in the AM and see what kind of heating i've acheived.

i've taken some more pictures, and movies.... computer is asking for a master reset because its acting like a 1920's POS again. damn porno sites and theyre viruses. haha.
Image
this is a picture of the top of the cell....not too much to mention.
Image
picture of the wiring. 20A circut breaker, 30A power relay. electrolyte mixed to 14A when cold. 10guage wiring, terminals crimped but not soldered, i need a stronger soldering iron for that. theyve all got good connections and run cold anyhow.
Image
and finally a picture of the ammeter chemelec reccommended, good buy for $10 or so.

i'll post the link to the video as soon as its done uploading.....
