Catalyst, baking soda or lye?

Postby mikek » Sun Jun 01, 2008 2:56 pm

I have been using baking soda with purified drinking water for some years now and have read about sodium hydroxide. This morning, I tried it. The problem I have is amperage draw, just a pinch and I'm talking about 1/16 tspn of baking soda to a gallon of water and I am at 15 amps. A teaspoon buries a 30 amp gage. Today, I tried the SH and same result, just a couple grains of the SH and the gage was pegged.

What ratios are you guys using? Water?

Thanks, MikeK

Aloha,
Baking soda = 60% hydrogen, 34% carbon monoxide, 6% carbon dioxide. Mr. Boyce claims that B.S also damages the electrodes.

Mike, you will get Huge current draw if your unit has say 13 V across
two plates that are submerged in the same Electrolyte.
These Series cells mentioned are set up so that ........
across any cell there is only approx 2 volts.
[ any two plates that are in contact with the same electrolyte , only 2 v across it . ]
If you had room , you could add some more units exactly the same as what you have.
Then connect them so it splits the Voltage up. If you had 3 units, the voltage would
be dropped to 4.5 v across each cell. You would get more output and less
power consumption & mixing the electrolyte would be easier.
You would probably find you could use half teaspoon or something like that.
-
If you just wanted to stay with what you have then , you could mix the 2 grains into a plastic cup of water then only pour say.... 20 % of this into cell.
That may help reduce the current.
Glenn.

Aloha,
There's good news and bad news.
The good news is that Lowes has lowered the price on Roebic 100% lye drain cleaner.
The bad news is that Lowes has lowered the price on Roebic lye because it is on a clearance sale.
Did the Bildeburgs buy out Roebic? Or do they just own controlling interest in Lowes?

Catalytic converter function

Postby juanito » Wed Dec 24, 2008 3:59 pm

As explained before, If use baking Soda will increase CO2 emissions, but, is not the catalytic converter made of carbon to absorb those emissions and reduce them?

I´ve been watching studies to store CO2 on charcoal deposits and ground it for future uses of CO2.

comments?

as i understood it, the catalytic converter is typically ceramic impregnated with platinum.... the superheated element converts the unburnt hydrocarbons into water vapor by means of oxidation

well- any time your burning something, it is simply a rapid oxidation, im just talking about burning without the flame.... think a flameless ceramic heater, propane powered,- in the camping isle.... same idea.....
