I want to build a power supply using a car alternator for testing my booster. I need to know what size mains power motor to connect to it, also the ideal speed to run it at. Would like to hear from anyone who has this type for power supply up and running.

1/3hp motor is too small I can tell ya that! LOL I just tried an AC/Declo with one and when the alternator turned on the motor practicaly stopped. Gonna prob try a half horse if not the 5hp of my compressor.

From the downloaded manual:
"*Amperage is only present when the unit is connected to a battery or in START mode."
You'd use the 55 amps by bypassing the battery. Probably enough current to test most generators? Not sure it it would do 55 amps and 6 V.
With the 10 amps...you'd need to use this thru a battery...cause in this setting the charger will not take a load unless connected to a battery. You'd be limited to 10 amps.
When I was using a 6 amp charger and a deep cycle....even when fully charged at start...after an hour or so the charger started reading above 6 amps when the cell was drawing 6 amps or better. Voltage started to drop at this amp level.
You really want a fairly consistent voltage around 13.5 V for testing as with a car alt under road conditions?
