Even Gasoline produces water vapor in the exhaust. I doubt hydrogen is any more of a problem.

As to Pistons and rings, they are generally protected from rust by the oil in the motor.

Fossil fuel products leave a film on the inside of the engine & exhaust protecting it from rust. Hydrogen burns so clean that there's no protection & the engine will rust from the inside out. Who has the cash for ceramic coatings & stainless steel valvetain? The cheapest solution is to burn a little bit of gas, I'm not sure how much it would take to protect the engine but it's pretty dirty when it burns so probably not much. The exhaust would probably rust out anyway but it would take a while. You could put the money you save in gas towards stainless pipes. If the car is a real hog it won't take long.

ive said this before and been ignored but... u cant run a normal engine on just hydrogen it will embrital the iron and wreck it. the timeing must be retarded to 5 or 8 deg past top dead center. if u are useing signifgant amount of h2 or all u get is blow back in the carb personalyy i am aiming at 30: 1 air/feul mix using 5 ot 10% of the amount of gas i use now. to tha end i have some 8 psi injectors ready and am making an infinitly ajustable timeing gear. now all i need is someone to build me a phase recitfirer to get 10 lts of gas per min

2 stroke oil could be used if Moreys is not available. Standard engine oil is not designed to be combusted. I have had 3 cars using these units.
