Here you see 3 new bubblers in construction. I use a very simple technique of assembly and a few trade secrets that I will now share with you. Use a drill bit that is just a tiny bit smaller than your hose. I like to go about 1/32nd smaller, myself. Now the real trick... use the drill at high speed in REVERSE! -Yes it takes a bit of pushing, but you get a beautiful hole without any torn edges. Keep the drill spinning as you punch through and as you withdraw it drom the bottle.

Now load the hose into the hole and push about 5 inches inside. This next part requires a good watertight glue. I recommend "GOOP Glue" -the standard household type in the purple tube. Put a good glob onto a long stick and insert that into the bottle. Be careful not to touch the glue to the bottle anywhere or you'll have a mess! Apply the goop to the tube inside the bottle. I usually shoot for the midpoint on the tube so that I'm not anywhere near my edges. -Remember you should have a good 5 inches of tube in the bottle. Don't worry about getting glue around the entire girth of the tube... just get the glue onto the tube!

After you load the tube up with a good blob, pull your stick out. Be careful you don't touch the sides! Now slowly start to pull the tube back out of the bottle. Your blob will soon touch the bottle. When it does this, begin to twist the tube in the bottle, so that the glue is spread around the entire tube. DO NOT pull too much tube through, you want to find a delicate balance where the glue is distributed on both the tube and the bottle. Be sure the glue is going the entire way around the tube, this will give you the good seal that you require for the bubbler.

Now put the finished bubbler somewhere to dry! I prefer to dry my bubblers in the position shown. Doing this allows me to take advantage of gravity for ensuring a good seal. -NOTE: If you use a glue such as "GOOP" be sure to cut, break or clean the old glue off of the tip before each new bubbler. The reason is that this glue on the stick starts to harden and could be transferred to your next bottle, in a partially cured state. You want the glue to be as FRESH as possible when making your bubblers, so that it flows and bonds well. Half dry glue is no good!


After the assembly is dry, you should have a nice clean seal on your bubbler. This is a picture of a good seal. I have not tested the PSI of these assemblies above 10psi, but up to 10 it holds without a problem. I suspect it could go up to 50 or more, if done properly.


As my bottoms are drying, I begin work on the tops. This process took a bit of trial and error but I believe that I have finally found the best way to do the tops now. I first show all of the failures :) --So read through these but do NOT use any of the next few pictures, as they are all a waste of time. I included them only as information for what NOT to do :)


This picture is a test for a new lid, it did NOT work well. --Keep reading!


More tests and the different things that I tried. Here we have the flange a threaded washer and a normal washer. The plan was to have the normal washer on top and the threaded one inside of the lid. It was a pain in the ass, as I had to use an "Exacto-Knife" to clean the hole up and plus you had to be DEAD Center! -Don't waste your time on this method. --Keep reading :)
