I don't believe I can turn PM on for just certain people. It's all or nothing for the whole board I believe.
We have e-mail ...why would PM be necessary? PM is only good for boards that don't require e-mail validation.

no, PM on this Discussion Board stands for Private Messaging. It's like having an ONLINE e-mail account that you have to come here to read. Personally I don't want to waste my bandwidth and disk space for people to have private conversations 
It also confuses people when they respond to a PM and think they responded to the group. That happened quite a bit when I did have PM turned on.
