Here we will discuss many topics on electronic designs and circuits for various functions. PIC Chip programming has enormous potential in so many applications, that will be included in this forum as well.

Free SPICE-Based Analog Circuit Simulation Program

Postby coffeyw » Sun Feb 25, 2007 10:02 pm

Anyone have any experience with Texas Instruments ?

Again, it's free!

Here's what TI has to say about TINA:

TINA is an easy-to-use, but powerful, circuit simulation program based on a SPICE engine. TINA-TI is a fully functional version of TINA, loaded with a library of TI macromodels plus passive and active models.

TINA-TI's new version 7.0 has changes from Version 6.0 in the following areas:

TINA-TI provides support for switching power supply devices.
TINA-TI has no limit to circuit size.
TINA-TI has more SPICE models and example circuits included.
User will be notified when an update is available for the tool and TI model library.
TINA-TI now supports SMPS simulation capability.
Circuits developed in TINA-TI 7.0 will work with TINA Industrial version 7.

Features

Based on a SPICE engine, TINA-TI provides all the conventional DC, transient and frequency domain analysis of SPICE and much more. TINA has extensive post-processing capability that allows you to format results the way you want them. Virtual instruments allow you to select input waveforms and probe circuit nodes voltages and waveforms. TINA's schematic capture is truly intuitive-a real "quickstart."

This complimentary version, TINA-TI, is fully functional but does not support some other features available with the full version of TINA.

TINA-TI installation requires approximately 100MB. Installation is straight-forward and it can be uninstalled easily, if you wish. We bet that you won't.

TINA is a product of DesignSoft and this special complimentary version, TINA-TI, is prepared by DesignSoft exclusively for Texas Instruments.

MACROMODELS
TINA-TI version 7.0 is preloaded with TI analog macromodels. Each of these macromodels has been tested and the test schematics are available in the tool.

APPLICATIONS
Many Application Schematics are available for download and simulation in TINA-TI. This is the fastest, easiest way to get started with circuit simulation. You can modify them and use "save-as" to save your changes. These Application Schematics will also run on full versions of TINA and are configured to run the analysis type shown in the example.

These files are available in folders within the "Examples" folder of the TINA-TI program software. To view this information in the tool after downloading the latest version, go to "File" in the menu bar, "Open", and the menu options for "Examples" will be displayed.

Application Schematic categories include:

Amplifiers
Audio (Audio Op Amp Filters, Microphone Pre-Amplifiers)
Cap Load Comp (C-oad Compensation, Line Driver)
Comparator (Comparator Circuits)
Control Loop (PI Temp Control)
Current Loop (4-20mA, 0-10mA)
Current Measurement (Current Transformer, Shunt Measure)
Difference Amps (Difference Amplifiers) Differential to Single-Ended (Diffferential Input to Single-Ended Output, Single-Ended Input to Differential Output, etc)
Filters FilterPro (Multiple FeedBack, Sallen-Key: synthesized by FilterPro)
Filters Others (All-Pass, Low-Pass, High-Pass, Tunable, Twin-Tee)
Oscillators (Wien-Bridge)
Power Amps (Laser Driver, TEC Driver, Parallel Power, LED Drivers, Photodiode Driver)
Precision (Low Drift, Low Noise, Low Offset, Voltage Divider)
Sensor Condition (Thermistor, Resistive Bridge, Capacitive Bridge, Inst Amp Filter)
Signal Process (Peak Detector, Clipping Amplifier)
Single Supply (Single Supply Op Amp Circuits)

Hey Michael,

It helps you design and test circuits before you build actually them.
Apparently version 7 has a lot of application schematics already built in.

Here's a of the program.

Thanks Thristy

I just tried that and it still won't open

Micheal,
I think you might need to convert or re-name your *.sch files for TINA to open them.
