Hydrogen Furnace?

Postby JWild » Sun Sep 10, 2006 12:22 pm

I have been reading about hydrogen for the past two years which, as most people, begun as an interest as an alternative fuel for cars. But one question that has always been in the back of my mind is would it be capable to run a natural gas furnace? One of the problems that I have come up with is that I have read hydrogen burns hotter than natural gas, so I would assume you may have to replace some of the metal of the furnace with metal of a higher melting point. But other than that, I don't know. So I was wondering if any of you on this message board would be able to tell me why this wouldn't work. I think this would be a very helpful, and maybe easier to do versus running a car on hydrogen. This is just something that has been bugging me for a while and I figured someone might know some answers here. Thanks for reading this...
