Scale used to weigh charcoal, iron ore, and limestone.


Gear used to pump air to blowing tubs to push air into furnace.


Blowing tub installed 1798, one of two, used to supply air to furnace. Prior to blowing tubs bellows were used to supply the air.

View of 8,000 pound gear, installed by the middle of the 19th century, this gear was powered by steam. Gear operates pistons pushing air through blowing tubs. Everything is original except for the axle, which was replaced in 1976. Today visitors can witness the wheel turning, slower than operating speed, thanks to modern day electric power.
